About
We are the University of Derby Taekwon-Do Club — a branch of Derby School of TaeKwon-Do — which teaches ITF TaeKwon-Do to students studying at the University of Derby. Classes are run for beginners (where no prior experience or fitness level is expected) all the way through to the higher levels of black belt.
Our resident International Instructor is Mr. Knighton who has been in the UKTA and ITF for over twenty-seven years. Our classes are currently located at the Sports Hall, University of Derby (Tuesdays, 6.00pm—8.00pm) and Saint Benedict’s School, Lafayette Suite, North Block (Thursdays, 7.30pm—9.30pm).
Training regularly in TaeKwon-Do has many benefits. You will quickly experience improvements in both your fitness and flexibility that in turn improves your overall feeling of well being. Over time as your skill in TaeKwon-Do improves your confidence and self defence ability will grow. As well as physical improvement TaeKwon-Do nurtures mental improvement too. The tenets; Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and Indomitable Spirit go hand in hand with the physical activities.

Hi Richard,
Student classes are run on Tuesdays from 6.00pm — 8.00pm in the Sports Hall at the Kedleston Road Uni site. We also have a class from 7.30pm — 9.30pm at St Benedict’s School on Thursdays, students are very welcome at the Thursdays class but it is also open to non-students.
We will be adding a ‘classes’ page to this website with detailed information very soon. Until then, if you need any more info contact the committee on uniclub@derbytkd.co.uk – don’t forget to sign up to our regular newsletter using the mailing list form on the right of the website!

Hello Richard, the form can be found on the UKTA website or directly at http://www.ukta.com/documents/UKTAMembership.pdf – the cost is £25 for the year, if you bring the completed form to class with the money our instructor can sign it and send it off for you.
There is also a BTC license route, which is £6 for one month and then the remaining £19 can be paid at the end of that month to cover you for the rest of the year (full UKTA membership). If you would prefer that option you can discuss with the instructor at one of our classes and get a BTC form (just bring £6 and a pen).
